I am a UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) registered psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and trainer working in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Since 1999, I have been offering counselling and psychotherapy to adult individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and with a wide range of presenting issues. My core psychotherapy training is Psychosynthesis and I have had a personal mindfulness practice for over 30 years. Where appropriate, I bring Mindfulness-based Approaches (MBAs) into my clinical work.
I’ve been teaching mindfulness since 2010 in a variety of different settings. I have taught eight-week MBCT courses to the public, both in groups and one-to-one. I have taught MBCT to teachers, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, psychotherapists, GPs, hospice staff groups, counsellors and therapists working both privately and within NHS, as well as a general population. I teach taster sessions for those new to MBCT and I deliver one and two-day Introduction to Mindfulness courses for counsellors/therapists, teachers, GPs and social workers in Kent and Sussex.
Since 2015, I have been engaged in supervising mindfulness teachers and offering mentoring for their mindfulness practice.

Since 2006 I have offered clinical supervision/consultation individually and in groups to psychotherapists, counsellors and health practitioners in line with professional ethical standards. I supervise those who work in organizational contexts, private practice and the voluntary sector.
I completed Mindfulness Supervision Training with Jody Mardula in Feb 2015.
- I’m interested in supervising teachers who are new to mindfulness teaching, encouraging an exploration of the dilemma, which can arise in mindfulness teaching, posed by the tension between the spontaneity of being with what emerges in teaching and the need to follow a curriculum.
- I am also interested in accessibility and diversity within mindfulness teaching and training. Working with individuals and groups from heterogeneous backgrounds and contexts requires a recognition of difference and respect for individuals’ multiple styles of learning. I aim to encourage this exploration through supervision.
I have a longstanding (over 30 years) personal mediation/mindfulness practice and body work practice, including Yoga, Qigong, and Tai chi, which informs my teaching and training. I am currently taking part in the Committed Practitioners programme. This is a two-year programme with Stephen Batchelor, Christina Feldman, John Peacock, and Akincano Weber for those with a working knowledge of core Buddhist concepts and contributes greatly to my understanding of both clinical/modern mindfulness and Buddhist philosophy.
Research Activities and Interests
I am particularly interested in developing and evaluating new forms of mindfulness-based intervention (MBI), especially for those people who may not be willing or able to access MBCT.
- 2012: Feasibility Study MIA (Mindfulness in ADHD): organised jointly by Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Research Centre at the Institute of Psychiatry and by the Adult ADHD service at SLaM. I developed and taught an eight-week course based on MBCT and MBSR and on previously published work by Lydia Zylowska. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of mindfulness training on cognitive functions and symptom relating to attention and impulse control. This work was a valuable experience necessitating an in-depth exploration of the aims and intention of the MBCT and MBSR curriculum.
- 2017: Pilot Study MwB (Mindfulness without Borders): is a project funded by Oxford Mindfulness Centre piloting and delivering trauma-sensitive MBCT and resources for refugee and asylum-seeking communities who been displaced by war. As part of a team, this involves working sensitively with cultural diversity as well as curriculum development and delivery of an adapted MBCT course.
