I am UMass Certified MBSR Teacher specializing in healthcare, businesses, and burnout prevention programming. I’ve been teaching about contemplative practice since 1998, am a science communicator about mindfulness through podcasting and social media, and peer reviewer for the journal Mindfulness. While in corporate healthcare for about 15 years, I created MBI’s on mindfulness and burnout, several drop-in meditation groups, countless presentations, and hosted live sessions for the global mindfulness community. I’m the first U.S. based supervisor for The Mindfulness Network, and have been supervising internationally since 2019.

Personal Practice
I started in Soto Zen to help with a difficulty focusing, eventually exploring Theravada learning and practice and taking lay ordination in each. My encounter with MBSR led me on the path of science-based, secular training, helping to broaden my personal practice to include a wider variety of formal meditations, including Focused-Attention, Open Monitoring, Mindful Movement, and other practices. Much of my learning comes from continuing education in mindfulness, and from regular engagement with leaders in the field via podcasting and social media.
Research Activities and Interests
My focus is the trend of mindfulness in contemporary culture, keeping up-to-date and sharing about the latest scientific research, and how mindfulness can be applied to changing the underlying causes and conditions resulting in stress, depression, and anxiety.
